About
Lumova is an independent product and strategy advisory founded by Thamer Abanami.
It works with founders, CEOs, and senior product leaders on the decisions that shape where a product goes next: direction, focus, operating model, and the calls that don’t get easier with more analysis. The work is short, direct, and built to leave the team sharper than it found them.
Principles
The difficult choices usually live in the seams.
Start with what has to be decided. If the choice is unclear, more analysis usually creates more fog.
Define the frame before defending the answer. Many teams are solving an inherited version of the problem.
Strategy has to survive the org. Teams, incentives, constraints, and timelines are the terrain, not the obstacle.
Stay close to the work. The best strategy reflects what customers actually experience and what the team can actually build.
Leave the team with usable structure. A good engagement should improve how leaders think after the work is done.
Thamer Abanami
Thamer Abanami spent 22 years at Microsoft, working across Windows, Surface, Windows Phone, and Xbox in product, platform, and program leadership roles. He helped grow Windows 10 to 400 million users in its first year and rearchitected Microsoft’s global data protection governance regime. He holds more than 15 patents in human-computer interaction and hardware-software integration, and is the author of Impact by Design, a book about how products create impact through the systems they operate in.
At Lumova, he advises leaders on product direction, AI strategy, and the operating choices that connect strategy to execution.
Engagements
Engagements are typically four to twelve weeks, scoped around a specific decision or inflection point: a strategy reset, a product direction call, an operating model change, an AI bet. The work is hands-on with the leadership team and built to produce decisions, not decks. Lumova takes on a small number of engagements at a time.
